Kam is a marketing/events professional aka responsible party girl whose love for arts, culture, and Manila brought her to the Viva Manila team. Without her, many ideas would remain on the white board; Kam makes stuff happen.

Ria Limjap

Ria Limjap is a writer working in the film industry as a producer, among other things. She graduated with a degree in psychology from the Ateneo de Manila University. As a Board Member and the treasurer Ria finds ways for Viva Manila to grow and have fun while keeping us grounded in reality.

Charisse Aquino Tugade

Charisse Aquino-Tugade is a Balikbayan who has built her home in Manila with her lawyer husband and two adorable daughters.  She founded the culturespace, The Manila Collectible Co.—a museum, gift shoppe and heritage tour/workshop provider in the heart of Intramuros, Manila. She studied Visual Anthropology and Marketing at the San Francisco State University and is continuing her masteral studies in Cultural Heritage in the University of Santo Tomas. Charisse is a Board Member and the Viva Manila mother who saves the day when things get tough.

Daniel Darwin

Daniel writes plays and plays with fire. After graduating from the New York University he returned to the Philippines and went on to win Talentadong Pinoy for his fire hula hoop performances. He continues to contribute to the flow arts scene as a performer and teacher. As a stage actor, Daniel performed Imelda in Carlos’ Livin La Vida Imelda. He writes, directs, and acts in original works. Daniel is a Board Member and is the maestro for Viva Manila’s performative programming. If it moves, speaks, dances, cries, and makes you think- Daniel has something to do with it.

Julia Nebrija

Julia is a Filipino-American urban planner. She first moved to the Philippines in 2008 as a Fulbright Scholar and returned in 2012 after finishing her Masters Degree in Urban Design from the City College of New York. She continues to work as a consultant with communities, civil society organizations, and government agencies to create a more livable Metro Manila.

As a Board Member and the Executive Director, Julia is a glorified social butterfly; she talks to everyone and finds ways to expand the network and connect dots.

Carlos Celdran

Carlos is a performance artist and activist who believes that “if you want to change how Manila looks, you have to change the way you look at Manila”. This mantra inspires his art, tours and advocacies and prompted him to start #vivamanila to share what he loves about the city. The hashtag turned into a few events which snowballed into the non-profit it is today. Carlos is a VivaManila Board Member and is the spirit animal of the organization-Head Unicorn as he likes to be called.

COMMUNICATIONS INTERN

Responsibilities include:

  • Check, organize and respond to all incoming vivamanila1@gmail.com emails
  • Update the VivaManila Google calendar
  • Manage and generate content for the VivaManila Facebook and website as instructed
  • Help devise new, fun ways to engage people and get the word out

Looking for a person with WordPress experience who can write and edit content and is detailed-oriented and organized.

OPERATIONS INTERN

Responsibilities include:

Intramuros Pasyal Operations

  • Collect and organize data from interested sellers
  • Select sellers based on VM criteria
  • Manage event registration
  • Lay out Pasyal floor plan
  • Attend meetings with partners

Looking for a person with event coordination experience who enjoys running the show and is a total go-getter.

URBAN DESIGN WEEK + FESTIVAL INTERNS

Responsibilities include:

Managing Operations during the Week + Festival May 9-17, 2015

  • Help manage festival contributors and participants
  • Respond to inquiries regarding festival details

Looking for people with an interest in urban planning and design. Events organization experience preferable. This will be a fast-paced project, so the candidate should have great energy and enjoy multi-tasking.
